What an opportunity for a real-life project experience. During this project, students get to have an architect as a guest speaker. After they have learned what an architect does and how he uses rotations, transformations, translations, and reflections to develop a floor plan, students will use their Chromebooks to complete a floor plan of their dream school, home, apartment complex, hotel, etc. Students love to create their floor plans in PowerPoint because they are able to complete the geometry objectives in a way that allows their floor plans to be successful. This project opens the eyes of students and allows them to see how much math affects jobs and sometimes students find an interest in a job they had no idea existed.
