Being apart of the Department of Education in New York City, it can be very difficult to order the supplies you need in order for your classroom to function. Simple music supplies like reeds and neck straps are not always available through the DOE and if you receive any sort of budget, it's usually not enough. In our case, we have the instruments but not the accessories. One of our most dedicated students plays bassoon and would greatly benefit from this project. She comes in early, leaves late, and is always prepared for class. Due to the instrument she plays and the lack of diversity/expertise through the DOE, this student often has to buy her own reeds which she often can not afford. This leaves her using equipment that hinders her potential and progress.
