Building a classroom library to help students self-select novels will help foster a love of reading. I always believe that children don’t hate to read. They just haven’t been given or had access to the right books to read. Most of the books we have are falling apart and out of date. Rather than forcing novels upon them, if they read novels that interest or are relevant to them, they will create a love of reading; thus, becoming better readers. Also, by choosing multicultural books, I can reach a diverse group of students. By donating to my class and library, you will help my students become better readers, writers and lifelong learners.
