The materials requested will provide hands-on learning to students who have not been provided this opportunity in the past. The Fraction bars along with the geometric shapes will be concrete learning tools. Most students are hands-on learners and these tools will benefit most of our students. The issue with students who struggle with equations is that they do not understand the issue of isolating the variable. They get confused to what side numbers go to and how the correct mathematical way to transfer numbers from one side of the equal sign to the other. The key to students being successful is the application of the standard. They need resources to do stations for hands-on application.
