Creating a space in which students feel comfortable increases their motivation and focus tremendously. By having flexible seating available in my classroom, students will be able to take turns in the comfortable seats while reading, which can be used as a reward for other behaviors. The rug, as well as the lights, will add to the calming ambiance which can help to de-escalate students as they code switch from the hallway to the classroom. The notebooks will help students stay organized with their writing. Mindfulness is a key component to being successful as a learner, and these items will help students achieve a calm mind-state while in my classroom. The desk bounce-bands will give a movement outlet to students who need that in order to stay focused. The speakers are to replace broken ones in the projector.
