I want to put together a basket of stress relievers to put in my classroom for students when they need a break. This designated spot will be known as the "Calm Down Corner" where students can go when they are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or need to de-escalate. One student at a time will be able to check-in to the Calm Down Corner where they will set a timer that lasts less than five minutes. During this time the student will be able to pick something from the basket of stress relief and sensory toys. Calm Down Corners will also have a positive impact on behavior referrals and teach students life-long skills of managing their emotions and thoughts.
