A couple of years ago, I was able to get some bean bags to offer students choice seating during our independent and whole group reading times, but since then, the bean bags have gone flat! Independent reading time is by far my favorite part of each class period, because students get an opportunity to read about the characters and topics that interest them most! Our goal is for students to read 1,000,000 words this year and re-vitalizing our reading space would encourage students to read daily because they not only have the freedom to read what they want to read, but they also get to choose where they sit as they do it!

About my class
