These books have "characters building" stories specifically chosen for the "new to the country" students in my classroom! Plus, it has books to teach them to read and write at their level. These are researched books that are both easy and enriched for students who are learning to speak English which learning the content through visual cues and stories. I have learned that students in second grade learn by listening to stories. I plan to enrich their vocabulary with books while they learn to read, write and learn behavior expectations that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
