I will be teaching at a low income school in Chicago so my students don't all have money for basic supplies like pencils, and notebooks. I want to have these supplies in my classroom on day one so we can start off strong! Additionally, since around 30 percent of my school's population is English Language and/or Diverse Learners I want to have manipulatives to help teach and reinforce math concepts. The math foam pattern blocks help teach geometry concepts visually and tactically. The dry erase number lines will help students with negative and positive numbers on their own desk. Also, since I want to encourage sharing ideas, students will need dry erase markers to show their work on different parts of the white board in the classroom. This list is just the start but will help my class run more smoothly for my new students!
