At this time I do not have a listening center in my classroom. My past students truly loved the listening center. They were truly excited about going to the listening/reading station! Some students do not enjoy reading and only like to hear the teacher read or listen to a book in a center because they are struggling readers. Due to some students having difficulty with reading, I want them to love and gain the passion for reading. I feel that the listening center helps them learn to read and it is fun for them to be able to choose books that they enjoy. I also find it beneficial when students are together in their station and they are all listening and reading the same book together! First grade is where reading begins and I want all my students to be successful readers ready for second grade by the end of the year!
