My goal is to have a classroom that is conducive to all students learning. I am trying to do this through flexible seating and creating a calming environment! The different seating options will help students find a place where they can work and be effective learners! Fourth graders need to move. They have lots of energy and if not put into learning, it can be used for "evil" instead! The flexible seating options allow students to choose a seat that provides sensory input, allows them to stand and work, or they can choose a classic seat. This gives students just one other way to take charge of their learning. The seating options are also easy to move around, this allows students to easily group themselves or find a "better place to work". I have two items in my cart that will aid me in creating a calming environment. Florescent lights can often aggravate students and in some studies, it has been found that it actually increases their energy and decreases students attention. The blue light covers allow students to have a calm more natural lighting source. Some other items in my cart will help with the distracting "smells" of a classroom. They will also aid in calming and can help the student focus as well! With your help and funding my project, I hope to transform my room into a successful learning environment for all students!
