I am implementing flexible seating in my classroom this year. I want to allow my students to be able to choose a place in the classroom where they will be comfortable and the most meaningful learning will take place. Since I teach Kindergarten, the students haven't been in a classroom before, therefore, their ability to sit still is limited. The bands will allow several students to still use desks, if they choose. The bands will allow them to bounce their legs while not bothering others. The bouncing balls will be another option for them them to release some energy while working. The students will be able to use the doughnut ball chairs at a table that I have lowered. This will allow them the option of sitting on their bottom or kneeling on their knees. The wobble chairs are another way to sit at a table with the flexibility to fidget as needed. The classroom environment will also be impacted in a positive way. If the students feel comfortable, therefore, want to learn, the behavior issues will lessen.
