I want my students to have endless options in choosing books, so that options for their futures are endless. In my classroom we are learning what it means to be college bound and how reading is an essential part to college. However, the variety of books at their level in my classroom is lacking. My students are amazing. They are energetic, dedicated students, and avid readers as long as they have the right book! They live in a low socio-economic area, and our school is a Title One school, which means that the majority of our students (in our case, more than 90%) receive free lunch because of their family's income. Our school is also a Spanish bilingual school. All of my students are native Spanish speakers and work diligently to develop their Spanish and English Language skills. Third grade is their first year where the shift from Spanish to English occurs. My students come in at varying reading levels.
