The city where my students learn and live is often known as a transplant city, and the students that fill the seats of my classroom come from near and far. While our school and community are often given less than kind monikers, my students defy stereotypes by refusing to be known as one thing alone. They are vibrant. They are loud. They are quiet. They are shy. They are extroverted. They are palette of everything. One thing many, if not all my students share, however, is that most days they are all a little bit scared. Being in high school, being fifteen for that matter, comes with figuring out who you are inside the messiness of adolescence.
