My goal is to transform learning experiences through the powerful combination of science and technology, resulting in enhanced student education. Reading about science is all very well, but it doesn’t hold an eleven year-old’s attention for long. I want to give my students the experience of gazing through the lens of a microscope in order to bring the world of cells and cell structures from their textbooks to their eyes. I want my students to be inspired by witnessing the life cycle of the building blocks of the universe, first hand. I want to see their jaws drop in awe as they come to realize that the shapes they are seeing illuminated on a plate of glass are the very same structures that make up their own bodies and every living thing that exists. The only way to do this is to get our very own microscope, for all my students to enjoy and learn from. My hope is that this tool will transport my budding scientists to the next level of their education in an engaging, hands-on way that will stay with them and support them in all their future scientific endeavors.
