In order for me to provide my students with a nurturing, child centered and comfortable classroom environment , I would love for them to have a cozy meeting area in the classroom with a comfortable rug. Currently our classroom has an upcycled rug that was discarded by a former colleague. The current meeting area is used for morning meeting, small flexible groups and independent exploration. Even though the current rug is in a deplorable condition my students enjoy their creative independent time on the rug. This new rug would allow my students to engage in child centered activities and reading in a comfortable environment which would make them forget about their environmental distractions.
