These testers can be used for labs in multiple units. We can test the conductivity of various solutions during the solutions unit. We can determine what ingredients in Gatorade are electrolytes as well as physically demonstrate the conductivity of ionic compounds in the ionic and covalent compounds unit. I have done away with many labs based on conductivity because I simply didn't have adequate materials. With these supplies, my students will be able to do four additional labs and in-class demonstrations this semester. This greatly increases their exposure to science in a way that they really enjoy! Additionally, I can use these items in future AP Chem and Physics classes that I may teach, as well as loan them out to the Physical Science teacher for further use.
