My third grade students are highly energetic and hard working. They came to me with a solid foundation and have already demonstrated that they are up for the challenges they will face this school year. Most of them are diligent in turning in their homework and are actively engaging in classroom instruction. My new third grader students possess a strong sense of awareness of the world around them. And, I am most impressed that despite the high poverty and crime community they live in, they are quite happy children. In a class discussion about community a student said," I live in a community where they shoot kids and rob houses, but I love my school and my teachers." My students come to school regularly and they get to be kids. They learn, play, fight, laugh, cry, and grow.
