All of our students smell delicious smells coming down the hall and find themselves in my classroom. They are either eager to learn to cook or are just plain hungry, because supper was not an option last night because money is to tight. My students love coming into my room and learn how to cook on a tight budget. We live in one of the top poverty stricken counties in Missouri. It's a sad reality that there are some students who are starving not only for attention, but also for food. I can give them just that in my room. Feed a family of 5 for $100.00 a month and make them hearty and healthy. This is something that all students are excited to take home with them and show their families how they can change their eating habits, include a little exercise as a family and start to see how they transform they attitudes, physical wellness and mental wellness.
