Not all of my students have supplies, and they all don't have the same supplies. I want to create an even playing field where all students will have exactly what they need to create their "Great State of Texas Notebook!" I want this completed project to be something they will value and hold onto forever because of the great care and attention we put into creating it, and this vision starts with ALL of my students having the very basic but essential materials they need in order to create this meaningful project. Composition books will be labeled with a title page, and then have special sections for maps, timelines, terms and tools of a historian, and then chapter outlines including vocabulary and other important information about Texas History. We will use AVID strategies such as annotated timelines and focused note taking; and I will encourage students to add artwork and adornments showing their personal touch in order to make the notebook more visually and personally valuable. Mechanical pencils and highlighters will be kept in my classroom in order to ensure they are ready to effectively record in the "GSoT Notebooks"!
