I teach mainly 9th graders at an inner city charter high school in California. Almost all of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch because of their low income status. Our school is a small charter school that is struggling financially but making huge strides with our population. My students come into high school with very negative feelings towards school and especially math. They come in years behind grade level but grow so much with a little bit of motivation and structure.
