Many of my students cannot afford to buy their own classroom supplies. Other teachers and I provide supplies as best we can, but we are still not meeting their needs. At the elementary school, I would like to create a pencil case for each student with crayons, scissors, glue, pencils, and pencil sharpeners. I would also like to give each student a binder to organize their handouts from class. I work in two buildings, and I need to provide supplies for each classroom, such as electric pencil sharpeners, 3-hole-punchers, and other items to be used by the whole class. I would like to help my under-represented students succeed by providing them with what they need. Some of my students work two jobs to make ends meet. Providing them with basic school supplies will take a burden off of their families. My favorite project of the year is our annual scrapbook. My ESL students write a letter to future English Language Learners and decorate their scrapbook page with a picture of themselves and their favorite things. This project is beloved by high school and elementary students alike and is a great way to help newcomers feel welcome in the future. Help us welcome new students and remember graduates by funding our scrapbook.
