I decided to request a math manipulatives set because as a first-year teacher, I do not have any math manipulatives for my fourth-grade students. I would really like to have manipulatives for them in order to master fourth-grade math. For instance, I would use the fraction manipulatives to help teach and reinforce fraction concepts; and, I would use place value manipulatives to help teach and reinforce place value concepts. The manipulatives will help students grasp math concepts visually, and in a kinesthetic and tactile way. Also, I would use the protractors to teach about measuring and constructing angles. It's one way to learn about math in an auditory manner, but it's quite another way when teaching students in a multisensory manner. I want to teach students math in a multisensory manner because students have different learning styles and I want to accommodate for those styles.
