My students are English as a Second Language students who come mostly from Ecuador, Mexico, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Puerto Rico. I also have some students from Tibet and Yemen. My students try their best in school, but often it is difficult for them because they are just learning the language. My school had a Spanish bilingual program which was just cut so the need for ESL support is now even more crucial. My school is in a low income neighborhood of Brooklyn. My students love technology, but often times they do not have access to it at home. Technology is a wonderful tool for language learning and it helps to make it fun for them. I want to make my students feel that my class is only the beginning for them, and that with a basis in the English language there are boundless opportunities available for them!
