We are requesting a rug for our classroom to use during our circle time, read-alouds, and whole group lessons. My students need a cozy carpet to invite them to learn. We spend a lot of our day on the floor and my students would love to have a comfy space of their own while they take on the learning challenges of second grade. The number of English Language learners in my school has steadily increased over the past several years. I feel that having a bilingual rug will help my English Language Learners feel more comfortable in our classroom. They will be able to use the words on the rug to talk about their language with the other students in the classroom. This will open up communication among the students in my classroom.
