A Kindle would be of great benefit in making speech/language therapy more meaningful and effective for my speech/language groups. It would be helpful during articulation groups, using apps such as Articulation Station or Articulation Hunt. Each student can monitor his/her progress by using the Kindle and headphones while other students are working with the therapist. Self-monitoring is an important part of therapy. Then, the students could switch! Language groups would be more engaging and exciting as the students are able to access apps that target specific goals and have a lot of fun while doing them! There are apps, such as Speech with Milo and Inference Pics that would be engaging for the students. The Kindle would also help with learning activities such as Jeopardy type games, following direction tasks, and pragmatic activities. A Kindle could definitely be used for great things in our speech therapy room!
