My classroom is a self-contained special education classroom consisting of preschool students ages 3 and 4 years old. My students are classified with developmental delays in various areas and all have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to guide their learning. I address needs in various developmental areas, especially communication and language, behavior, along with cognitive and social/emotional skills. Our daily classroom activities focus on functional and foundational life skills, along with a strong emphasis on social/emotional learning, behavior analysis, and communication. My students need early, meaningful experiences to help kick-start their educational experience. The foundation of this classroom is based on the individual needs of each student. Through highly structured routines/expectations, play, modeling/repetition, and other strategies, my students experience success and much love in my classroom!
