This is my first year as a teacher! I will be teaching kindergarten, and I couldn't be happier. The items I am asking for will help me with the overall development and management of my classroom. Children cannot learn if they do not feel safe. I added sensory toys for times when my students feel anxious about what lies ahead of them. Even though they are little people, they have very big feelings and emotions. I hope that these items will help them learn how to manage their emotions. I am not just concerned with their emotional development, but I am also considering their physical and cognitive development. That is why I chose to add blocks and a bookshelf. My kids may not know how to read yet, but exposing them to print and allowing them to play with books is an important part of developing their reading skills. The magnetic wand will assist me with teaching my students to read. The area rug will serve as a central location in my classroom where the entire class can gather together. There, we will bond as a class through reading, songs, and sharing experiences.
