As kids grow older, their desire to read for pleasure decreases significantly. I want to create a comfortable, safe place for children in middle school to continue that love of reading and become literate, caring citizens of the world. Classroom libraries provide easy access to books. Comfortable seating invites students to settle in and enjoy learning. They’re acquiring extensive​ vocabulary and internalizing literary devices, all while savoring the power of story. Kids love book clubs! With multiple copies, kids can sit in small groups and talk excitedly about how the plot is developing. Finally, by reading great books, students will become better writers.

About my class
