This year I will be implimenting for my students a new guided reading plan. They will be diving into their readings together to get practice with decoding strategies, word work skills, vocabulary development, reading fluency, and writing practice. In order to do this with multiple groups each at their own skill levels, they need short readings that they can get through in 2 to 3 twenty minute lessons to focus on and learn from. The resources I am hoping to get with your help are short, paired fiction and nonfiction passages. Those I have selected will be used with my students on and below grade level with basic reading strategies. I have also selected similar passages at and above grade level to help with comprehension skills. What's neat is that with these materials, students will have fiction and nonfiction practice to develop the skills needed to dive into books on their own to begin a life long love of reading!
