Adding flexible seating options like yoga balls, bean bags and wobble chairs in my classroom will keep students engaged throughout 90-minute classes and provide a way for them to stay active without distracting them from learning. Tables will allow students to collaborate and develop the skills that are needed to work with their peers, without working on the floor like they do now. Giving my students options beyond the traditional classroom desks will make them feel like they are in a space that is comfortable and welcome, while building a stronger classroom community. Being in this type of classroom environment will allow my special ed students to learn in a space that is best for them, while being both active and focused. It will also benefit for my AP students that will need to learn how to learn and do work in more comfortable spaces after high school. Thank you for your help, I can't wait to share these new seating options with my students!
