These new books will not only help my students understand how others have experienced America and the world, it will hopefully have some students seeing themselves in the main characters of the books. My students and I will be learning new facts and insights and making connections from the books. I would like to teach my students about other cultures (my school is mostly of Hispanic heritage) and celebrate their own as well. I will be able to share these books and read them via distance learning. Along with celebrating our first female and person of color, Vice President Kamala Harris, we need to embrace and focus on all kinds of people in our classrooms!
