The use of flexible seating is becoming more essential every year, especially in primary classrooms. As a first year teacher, I am limited in the resources available to my students. In an effort to provide flexible seating as best as I currently can, students are invited to complete assignments and projects on the carpet, bean bag chair, stand at their desks, and work on various tables throughout the classroom. However, I'm observing students trying to rock in their school chairs and walk around more and more. I have observed, that when students are able to physically move, their collaboration and efforts improve. As children have unlimited amounts of energy, I believe it is essential for them to be able to move around the classroom. Therefore, providing students with wobble chairs and balance balls plays an important role in their participation and grit.
