I work with every student in our K-5 building, and they are each amazingly different and wonderful in their own way. From the outside of our school, it seems pretty middle of the road, until you walk in. The sense of community in our building is one that is envied by all. The kids all come from different backgrounds, some picture perfect and some unspeakable, but when they come into school they are all equal and all are safe. The teachers and staff are only a small part of what makes our school so wonderful. From the bright smiles, salutations, high-fives and waves in the hallway to the pay it forwards, hugs, charity events, thank you notes to the veterans… it is the children and their true love of learning and one another that make it such a wonderful place to be. It is the kids that actions that inspired me to apply for this project. The children of my school are self-less, they are always doing so much for the community and one another, and I want to keep giving my best to them.
