I have been teaching for 6 years and have seen so much growth in my students as people and scholars. Last year the majority of my students achieved proficiency on end of year state exams, but there were still students that I failed to set up for success. This year that is our goal. Every one of my students will master their Academic Goals. I refuse to let the lack of resources be the reason my students do not reach their goals. We as a class family will use these resources to give each other choice and ownership in our learning. I use a combination of music, online materials, and student created labs in order to let my students choose how they master the content. My students write songs based on the content, they have the option to choose online applications such as brainpop rather than only the textbook, and they create labs weekly in order to prove scientific laws. Benjamin E. Mays said, "We are all created to do something unique and distinctive and if we do not do it; it will never be done." My students and I recite this quote everyday and we believe that. We all have a role to play and we need each other to be our best selves. Please give to our project because right now we need you.
