My students attend a rural, county-wide consolidated school. Many do go on to college after high school, but many others deal with drug issues, teen pregnancy, or worse, extremely low standards for where their lives are taking them. Many of our own students hold a low opinion of their own school and of the opportunities available to them. I have been on a mission to create opportunities in our children's minds for their own futures by showing them what can be possible in a scientific field. I have collaborated with our engineering department and we have began to see an interest, which I hope will continue to grow.
