The Children's Day Unit at the New York State Psychiatric Institute is an intensive outpatient psychiatric treatment program for adolescents ages 14-18. The program includes a New York City public high school. As a clinical and research facility, our adolescents receive a wide range of psychiatric services for a range of mental health disorders. The hospital provides free treatment for adolescents struggling with obsessive compulsive disorders, anxiety, social phobia, depression, school refusal, bipolar and eating disorders. The students attend class daily and are eligible to earn high school credits while attending the CDU. In addition to getting assistance in their academic subjects, the students receive individual and group therapy sessions, social skills and art therapy, and neuropsychological testing when indicated.
