Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Currently, my students only have student tables to work at or the classroom carpet. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed differences in other students when they are given a choice in their seating and would like to provide that opportunity to my students. As I am currently completing my thesis on project-based learning influencing student motivation in the lower elementary grades, it is evident that students need choice in both the way they learn and where they sit to learn. We are an arts-focused charter school so the materials that are requested will support my student's ability to choose where they sit while providing them with needed art supplies. My students are continually creating and developing learning through art-based projects that reflect their knowledge. The supplies requested will help support core subjects with project-based learning reflections. The tools requested will positively influence my 2nd grader's motivation to learn.
