A full classroom library will help my learners connect more with all of the material we focus on in 5th grade. I strive to build a love of reading and print. In our classroom, many of our students are English Language Learners and it is important to give them not only material to read but a way to find meaning in the words they are reading. I am asking for a class set of dictionaries so each of my students always has a way to figure out the meaning of any word they may be struggling with. Having a hard print copy of a dictionary is crucial as many of these kiddos do not have access to technology after leaving school grounds. This new library will give my students choice on what they are reading while fostering independent reading at their grade level. The interest level in each of these books will be high as I already have students asking me about many of the titles included in the library set. Additionally, these books will help my students continue to build their love of reading and appreciation for printed texts.
