Fifth grade is the first year where our students are transitioning form one class to another. This means tight transitions to get used to and little to no time for breaks. An issue that we've run into a lot this year is running out of time for water breaks after specials and recess.
Students need water breaks, but that often comes at the expense of missing class to take one. A full class set of reusable water bottles will alleviate any stress on a family that cannot provide one, and keep our classroom environmentally friendly!
This year our school has chosen to use a reading and math intervention website that uses videos and sound effects to keep students engaged. Our Chromebooks, however didn't come with any headphones and we are often borrowing from other classes or going without- keeping my students from being able to fully engage in what they're working on.
With a class set of smaller, more compact headphones, I know that each student will be able to immerse themselves in the material without being embarrassed that they didn't have headphones to bring from home or having to go without them completely.
