I need a variety of items to help me set up my own classroom such as wobble cushions, wobble chairs, and ball chairs along with fidgets, peace corner pillows, lap desks, noise canceling headphones, electric pencil sharpener, dry erase markers and other office supplies. Flexible seating will allow my students to take charge of their learning and make responsible choices as they choose the seating arrangement most conducive to their own learning. During independent work times students choose a location in the classroom that works for them. My students choose to work in a variety of locations in the classroom such as at different tables, sitting under tables with clip boards, or sitting or laying on the floor. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating arrangement. They are more engaged, creative, and get more work completed when they are able to choose a flexible seating arrangement that works best for them.
