Imagine sitting in a 4th grade classroom with 25 students and you feel like everyone around you can sing, but you haven't yet found your voice. You're insecure, but you aren't in despair because you learned how to play the recorder and you can show off your favorite songs to your family and friends! You're not strange anymore, but unique and special because you can play Mary has a Little Lamb to your little brother. This is a story that many adults and students can relate with. When I was growing up, I was terrified to sing out loud but I learned that I could express myself better when I had an instrument to my face to help be my voice. By investing in these recorders for my students, you are giving them an opportunity to relate to others and for them to find their voice as they make music together!
