This has been an exceptionally challenging year for everyone. Due to the pandemic, students are experiencing school in a completely different way making many social emotional challenges even more prominent. I want to give my students a Safe Place within our classroom where they can go if they are feeling overwhelmed, upset, angry or scared. I want them to have tools in this space to help them express their feelings, breathe, and relax. Books to read about their feelings and emotions, writing tools to draw and write about how they feel, a stuffed lovey to cuddle and feel safe, fidgets to help them focus and calm down. Many students in my school have already suffered from childhood traumas by the age of 5. I want to do everything I can to make school a Calm, Safe, Loving place!
