In the morning my students stagger in during a 20-minute period of time because of breakfast, drop off, and bus arrivals. As they wait for their friends, they need something exciting to do! Each morning my learners will enter my class ready to play, explore, and create in their morning STEAM tubs. These engaging tubs will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills through play and collaboration. The tubs will include TinkerToys, Play-Doh, puzzles, Legos, Magna Tiles, etc. Play time and STEAM activities have shown to increase problem solving skills. In my school students rarely get to play besides during recess. Not only will these tubs allow for the important need to play, but hopefully motivate students to come to school. Through this project I am hoping to ease the hectic transition from home to school by sparking their curiosity for learning.
