Bringing the Every Day Counts math calendar into the classroom will change math for students on a daily basis. This resource will allow students to learn and explore math concepts using a variety of manipulatives. Students will be able to use this resource to collaborate with other students to solve and explore new math concepts daily. The math calendar will expose students to new concepts that have not been specifically taught yet. This allows students to truly explore concepts for themselves and begin to reason and understand new concepts through exploration. Students often learn best when they are able to be hands on and have the opportunity to solve a problem by exploration and testing different theories rather than being told how to specifically solve a problem. Implementing this resource also creates a classroom environment that encourages students to have a voice and collaborate with their peers daily. Students will be able to use the resources that are provided in the everyday math kit to solve math problems that they have not been explicitly taught. While working to solve these problems students will be able to add to the calendar themselves and show their different strategies. This creates a classroom that encourages students to not only collaborate about their math work but also to build daily math discussions.
