Reading opens the door to brand new worlds to all ages. In our first grade classroom, listening to books helps students enter the realm of different worlds at various reading levels. Using CD players to listen to books on tape will help our students develop comprehension skills no matter their reading level. Following along with words read aloud will also help students notice spelling patterns, sight words, and more. Storage for technology will allow students to access supplies independently and allow learning to flow at a natural pace. Displaying books we have read and shared allows students to revisit a familiar topic and serves as a reminder of the knowledge learned through whole group instruction.
