Our science standards heavily rely on the students' understanding of life cycles of plants, what makes plants grow, and what different elements they can contain. This Aerogarden will help us bring the outdoors into our classroom so we can grow things year round. MN winters can be long, it's also a nice way to see a little green when everything is covered in a blanket of snow! We borrowed one from another teacher last year for a few months and would really like to have one of our own to grow things year-round! Last year, we grew cherry tomatoes and some children tried them for the first time ever just because they had watched them grow, and were willing to taste something they'd grown themselves! I am looking forward to using this Aerogarden to provide the students, many of whom don't have their own yards to grow things in, the magic of planting a seed and watching it grow.
