One of the great joys of my classroom is its diversity. Around half of my students are Latinx, from a great number of different cultures and countries within Latin America. I teach multiple grade levels (9th, 11th, and 12th) and various class levels (AP Literature and dual credit courses in addition to students enrolled in our Early College program). More than half of our students come from low-income households. As these many factors show, my students bring unique perspectives and experiences to the classroom. It is my goal for those students to feel seen, heard, and cared for as they develop their love of reading and writing. An important philosophy of my classroom is that all students have choice in what they read and write. The book options that are available in my classroom are representational of my diverse student body and their many interests. Thank you for your consideration and attention!
