My goal for these books is to increase the children's enjoyment of quality literature and exposure to a variety of authors, illustrators, and genres. The project is called #classroombookaday and Jillian Heise came up with the idea and presented it at a Scholastic Reading Summit. I will be applying her program into my classroom. A very important part of this program is to introduce children to authors and illustrators of various backgrounds, which are difficult to find in many libraries. To successfully incorporate #classroombookaday, I will plan books based around character development themes and diverse authors/illustrators. For 180 days, or the entire school year, I will read a book to my class of Kindergartners simply for enjoyment.
