As a science teacher, my classroom is very interactive. Students are rarely in their seats. They are usually moving around to stations or pairing themselves up for projects. My classes have between 32-36 students in them. While my lab is a decent size, when you add 36 students, 36 backpacks and 36 chairs it is nearly impossible to move around. Currently I have mostly chairs with backs on them in my classroom. This posses a problem because students cannot push them in all the way and therefore not only does it cause the room to be cluttered, but they are not able to lean over the tables well to really see what they are doing. Additionally, I built an outdoor structure for them to hang their backpacks on to reduce the clutter in the classroom, but I do not have the hardware (the hooks) to install for them to actually hang the backpacks on.
